Asset Information Models

The AIM provides a spatial database container that federates the many different datasets and applications that asset managers need to manage Activeplan’s AIM is a Cloud database that automates:

  • The production of coordinated Asset Information

  • Integration with other asset management applications

  • The management of the Digital Record/O&M, performance reporting and compliance.

Solution detail

The AIM federates the many different datasets and applications that asset managers need to manage.

  • Ensure the asset team is working with coordinated data.

  • Integrate geometric models with data models.

  • Enable the commercial teams to contribute more effectively.

Activeplan’s AIM is a digital model of the facility that can be created from BIM models or easily built from existing O&M/record data as a starting point, allowing the asset team to better-understand the gaps or incorrect data, and use that to inform a managed, incremental process of improvement through desktop studies, targeted surveying, and progressive assurance of data from maintenance works and projects.

Benefits

It automates a currently manual process, taking data that was generated through coordinated design, through procurement, installation, commissioning, handover, and post-handover and provides a clearly auditable “Golden Thread”.

  • Activeplan’s AIM connects models, drawings, schedules, room data sheets. 360° photos and COBie files and makes it easier to keep them updated.

  • It includes data libraries of reusable information that can be created once, quality assured, and reused many times.

  • It provides asset teams with auditable and searchable information on installed products, including the means of tagging photos with assets that are coordinated with the schedules.

  • It enables asset managers who are managing new projects to create Asset Information Requirements for supply chain members in a machine-readable form

  • It validates and federates the non-geometric BIM data and key documents

  • This it manages in databases, separate from, but connected to, any 3D models

  • QR Codes can connect physical spaces or assets directly to the location in the AIM

The AIM connects to Activeplan’s Product Data Library where manufacturers’ product data is created once and can be connected to every asset in every space in every building across an estate. This makes managing of warranty information, safety and carbon much easier.

Once the baseline is created from historic records, any variations or new works are added to the coordinated data model and new outputs/records produced and stored.

Activeplan can provide a managed service to update the coordinated data but local teams or their subcontractors can also do this work if they have the capacity and expertise,

Those with valuable asset information schedules in Excel or other applications can add it directly, retaining responsibility for the quality, reducing re-work, and speeding up data collection.

Activeplan’s AIM connects the geometric models (using BIM360 Forge) and the non-geometric COBie data creating a Cloud-based interactive, integrated BIM data model.

By managing all the data in relational databases, commercial, procurement, logistics and delivery teams become part pf the BIM process, so the data they produce for other reasons is gathered to keep the Digital O&M up to date.

  • Designed around data standards, forms part of a wider ecosystem of asset management and compliance software solutions, interoperating as required.

  • Asset team identify gaps or incorrect data, and use that to inform a managed, incremental process of improvement through desktop studies, targeted surveying, and progressive assurance of data from maintenance works and projects.

  • It automates a currently manual process, taking data that was generated through coordinated design, through procurement, installation, commissioning, handover, and post-handover and provides a clearly auditable “Golden Thread”.
