Real Estate
is both a major cost and a significant asset for most
businesses and successful businesses are those that
achieve the optimum return from their assets.
ActivePlan
is a breakthrough technology that allows established
asset management systems to be dynamically linked to
CAD plans for floor/room layouts, equipment details
and building services. Unlike CAD-based FM systems,
this integration is at the database level in an interoperable
manner so a change in any application immediately updates
all other views.
By ensuring everything is held within the database,
ActivePlan allows an owner to enjoy the functionality
of a CAD-based FM application, but through an Internet
browser.
Assets are “intelligent
objects” and have both physical and logical
relationships allowing, for example, a schedule of the
all the furniture that sits in a room to be generated
but also report on the desks occupied by admin staff,
and then report on the people and resources needed to
work on a specific project. This allows provides cost
management techniques such as activity-based costing
with a spatial perspective difficult to otherwise achieve.
This means of associating logical relationships can
be valuable in identifying equipment that may be in
different areas, yet part of a system (without modelling
the entire system) or to visualise a process e.g. water
treatment.
ActivePlan improves the
way costs are managed but more importantly, leverages
the business benefits to be gained from using the built
environment in the most effective manner. This allows
a business to explore how certain layouts can improve
productivity, experiment with various options, select
those to be deployed and measure the relative performance
of each to inform future decision-making.
ActivePlan’s advanced
database technology allows the data to be analysed from
a variety of perspectives and presented in ways that
managers of the mainstream business can understand and
relate to their measurement criteria.
